They grew up nearly neighbors and didn't know it. He in the Central Massachusetts town of Holden. She a mile over the Worcester border. He shared backyards and ball fields with her cousins and somehow they never crossed paths until a chance encounter years later.
The fairy tale began on a June day in Boston two years ago. A pair of strangers had their heads buried in their phones. The next thing that happened was right out of a storybook - they both swiped right.
Christa and Brian had a first date and then another. Before long they moved in together and settled in Providence where Brian proposed last October after a post-dinner stroll along the city's eponymous river.
Our engagement shoot was along Boardwalk Beach in Sandwich on Cape Cod. It was a setting that held a special place in Christa's heart. Her family would escape here during the summer months of her childhood, and the town where her parents turned a seasonal home into a permanent one when they retired.
The boardwalk provided a compelling runway and backdrop for our shoot. And fortunately, the clouds held the rain in long enough for us to capture these special moments.
Christa and Brian both have amazing senses of humor, and they were constantly trying to make each other laugh. It was a fun shoot, to say the least.
Beach memories are not always sun-baked. Often they develop during an afternoon when there's a slight chill in the air, clouds overhead, and someone you love beside you. Sand for miles, an ocean forever, and not another soul in sight. A couple sitting alone but not lonely and quiet because nothing needs to be said.
